Verizon announced today that it has enabled access to its 4G LTE network in 9 new metropolitan areas, as well as expanding its existing coverage in Chicago and Philadelphia. This expansion brings Verizon up to 55 markets, and is a nice step towards its larger goal of rolling out LTE coverage to 145 markets by the end of 2011.
The 9 lucky areas are:
Mobile, AlabamaMontgomery, AlabamaGreater Fairfield and New Haven, ConnecticutGainesville, FloridaPensacola, FloridaTallahassee, FloridaFayetteville-Lumberton, North CarolinaBryan-College Station, TexasTemple-Killeen, TexasVerizon's LTE network, originally rolled out in December of 2010, has had a few bumps along the way. But, with an ever-growing list of LTE-capable devices and super-fast speeds, we remain optimistic. If you happen to live in one of these new coverage areas, be sure to let us know what you think!
