The Term Hipster

Comments 0

has its origins in the 1940s where it appeared after the jazz age and initially when it appeared in the dictionary, it was define as “For Characters Who Don’t Dig Jive Talk”. At first, young people turned to hipsterism when they started adopting the ways of black jazz musicians. The term disappeared in the late 1940s. It reemerged in the 1990s again when the youth started to come up with their own fashions and styles. This time, the word started being used in a very different sense. This time, it was used to describe people who were young and were adopting new ways different from all the traditions. They are adopting alternative culture, eating organic or vegan food, using bicycles rather than cars, doing their shopping at thrift stores and listening to radio rather than watching television.
