Sporting Club Singapore Turf Club

The Singapore Turf Club was established back in the year 1842 as one of the most prestigious  Sporting Clubs of the country. This club overlooks the  to operate the Serangoon Road Race Course that is located at the Farrer Park. This club is the only horse-racing club in the country today that is also a part of the Malayan Racing Association. This organization workd to regulates the three Turf Clubs in the state of Malaysia including the Selangor Turf Club, Penang Turf Club and Perak Turf Club. The Singapore Turf Club is the one and only authorised operator of horse racing, and horse betting services in the country that is regulated and checked by the local government. This club earns great revenue for the country and makes a point of giving a large chunk of its earnings to different charitable organizations in the country. After its establishment in the year 1842, the first race here was held on the 23rd of February of the year 1843. During that race, the total prize money was only $150. It was later in the year 1924 that this Club changed its name to the Singapore Turf Club. This change was basically installed to ensure that the club was under the control of the government and all the betting was accurate without control of a single person or organization. In the year 1933 this club was moved to Bukit Timah and in the year 1999, the location was again changed moving it to the Singapore Racecourse at Kranji in 1999.
