The Wizard of Oz is an American musical and fantasy film that was released in the year 1939 and was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film was directed by one of the greatest directors of all time Victor Fleming who followed the script written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf, along with many uncredited contributors. The movie is based on a novel that was published in the year 1900 and written by L. Frank Baum entitiled The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The cast of this movie, is renowned for superb performance and it includes Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton, Charles Grapewin, Clara Blandick and the the great Singer Midgets. It was among the most advanced films of its time with notable special effects, technicolor, fantasy storytelling and various unusual characters, The Wizard of Oz gained tremendous success over the years after it was released and is today among the best known films of all time. The film gained many positive reviews, critic’s acclimation along with three academy awards and was nominated for several other awards but it was at the beginning a box office failure.
