Beijing (CNN) -- A deadly fire ripped through a four-story building in a southern suburb of Beijing early Monday, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
At least 17 people were killed, said municipal police, and 24 were injured.
Firefighters have now extinguished the blaze, which began around 1 a.m. (1 p.m. ET Sunday) in Jiugong Town in Daxing District.
