Airlines must reimburse for lost bags, bumped flights, government says

Passengers stand in line at the American Airlines counter as they try to rebook their flights at Miami International Airport on Feb. 1.

The rules, issued by the Department of Transportation, will take effect Aug. 23. Airlines will be required to more clearly disclose the fees charged for such services as checking bags and changing reservations.
