Vilsack Reportedly Predicts 'Holy War' as Wife Considers Run Against Rep. King

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack reportedly predicted that Iowa would see a "holy war" if his wife runs for Congress, fueling speculation that she'll launch a high-drama challenge against conservative Rep. Steve King. 

Christie Vilsack has been testing the waters for a potential House run and this week went live with her "Christie Vilsack for Iowa" website. The launch got a boost from the buzz created by her husband, a former Iowa governor, earlier in the week. 

Tom Vilsack told a group of state senators Monday that "it will be a holy war" if his wife runs, the Des Moines Register reported. His wife's website then confirmed she was considering running in Iowa's 4th Congressional District -- the district that King, who represents the 5th District, is expected to run in following redistricting. 

Such a face-off would pit a well-known Iowa name against one of its firebrand conservative voices in Congress. The possibility of a King challenge drew a quick retort from the conservative Club for Growth, which took exception at Tom Vilsack's remark. 

"Before Christie Vilsack has her husband issue a fatwah against Steve King, she should know that Steve King has an excellent record in Congress on the issues that the Club for Growth cares about," Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a written statement. 

Vilsack's website said she would "spend the next several weeks" talking with residents as she decides whether to run.

Georgia Woman Reportedly Admits to Sending Pig's Foot to Rep. Peter King

A Georgia woman reportedly has claimed responsibility for the severed pig's foot that was sent to Rep. Peter King, apparently in protest over the hearing he held on radical Islam. 

Jacquelyn Barnette, who described herself as Muslim, told the New York Post she sent King the package, which also contained an anti-Semitic note, this month. 

The U.S. Postal Service intercepted the package before it ever reached King's office. 

"I thought the letters explain themselves," Barnette told the Post. 

Asked about her comments, King told Fox News she "seems to be a disturbed person." 

"I'll let the police decide how to deal with her. I don't want to do anything to encourage her or others like her," he said. 

In March, King, R-N.Y., held high-profile congressional hearings on Islamic radicalization in the U.S., saying he aimed to confront the threat of homegrown extremism. 

Though the note contained anti-Semitic messages, King is not Jewish. The note also reportedly told King to "kiss my black, Muslim-American a--."

Obama Campaign Reportedly Amasses Big Legal Fees

President Obama's campaign committee has been racking up big bills for legal fees since his historic election, according to a new report.

The committee paid nearly three times more in legal fees in the two years since his election than in the two years prior, according to a CQ MoneyLine study of Federal Election Commission records.

The report shows that Obama for America spent $2.8 million on lawyers’ costs for corrected FEC filings and other activities in the time since he was elected in 2008, Roll Call reported.

Obama supporters note that the expenses for John McCain were also higher after his campaign than before. And the reason for the inflated costs had as much to do with Obama’s running the most expensive campaign in history as with the many, many legal challenges from Republican groups
