Small plane crashes near bank in Chicago suburb

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and another injured when a small plane crashed in suburban Chicago.

Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neal says a woman aboard the single-engine aircraft was killed Wednesday when it slammed into a parking lot outside a bank in Bolingbrook. O'Neal says the name is being withheld until a Thursday autopsy establishes a positive identification and relatives are notified.

A man was also hospitalized with burns. His condition isn't known.

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Michael Rompa says the victims are believed to be the plane's pilot and passenger. Photos from the scene initially showed the plane on fire, with smoke billowing from the parking lot.

The crash was near the single runway Clow Airport. It's not clear if the plane was leaving or headed toward the airport.
