Head-on collision in southeastern Arizona kills 4

DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) — A head-on collision between a van carrying migrant workers and another vehicle on a highway in southeastern Arizona has left four people dead and four injured.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the van and a pickup truck collided early Thursday on U.S. 191 three miles north of the border town of Douglas.

DPS Officer Carrick Cook says three of those killed were among seven migrant workers in the van. Cook says the driver of the pickup also was killed.

The injured were flown to a Tucson hospital.

Cook says the cause of the accident is under investigation, but there was no immediate indication of driver impairment or equipment malfunction.

The highway was closed for several hours because of the crash but has since reopened.
