Police say bus bomb kills 3 in eastern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Police say a roadside bomb has hit a passenger bus in eastern Pakistan, killing at least three people and wounding several others.

Police official Rashid Ahmed says the attack happened Saturday near Kharian, a garrison town about 75 miles southeast of the capital, Islamabad.

The bus was en route to Kharian from the nearby city of Gujrat.

The attack comes a day after a double suicide bombing in the country's northwest killed 87 people. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack and said it was revenge for the May 2 U.S. raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden.
