The Online Citizen (TOC) is a community of Singaporeans that has been established online. It is among the top socio-economic blogs of the country along with being a forefront of political activism in this single city-state. This blog was established in the December of the year 2006 but owing to the wide range of discussions that went on on this blog, on January 10, of the year 2011 this blog was forced to be registered as a political association. The state has said that the reason behind giving this site the status of a political association was that many political polls and issues have been discussed on this site that can be used by the many political leaders. Not only that, many online and offline campaigns have been arranged by the creators of this blog. The basic objective of the creation of this site was to cover the topics and issues regarding the country that were ignored in the mainstream media that is the television and news papers. The blog basically invites ordinary people of the country to give their opinion regarding the many different range of topics and happenings of the world.
