Commonwealth of Dominica

The is an island in the Caribbean Sea that has a population of seventy two thousand five hundred individuals. With the capital city of Roseau this is among the most beautiful places on earth. It has been nicknamed “Nature Isle of the Caribbean”. It is home to the second largest boiling lake of the world. Not only that it has numerous lush mountains, and rainforests, and many rare and exotic varieties of many different plants and animals that are not found anywhere else in the world. It has heavy rainfalls and the rainfalls are responsible for the great many types of plants.  Owing to the lush green mountains and tremendous natural beauty, tourism is the basis of the flourishing economy of this country. Other than that,  agriculture also plays a role in maintaining the economy of the country. This island is famous as Christopher Columbus arrived here on the third of November of the year 1493. He named it after the day of the week he arrived here, Sunday, that is Dominica in Latin.  Afterwards, French took control of this island in the year 1763, followed by the Britishers, who took over in 1805 and established their own colony. For some time, from 1958 to 1962, this small island became a province of West Indies Federation.
