Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Pakistan, first attracted the attention of the FBI in January 2010 when he began discussing with associates his interest in contacting a terror organization to wage war against U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan, according to federal court documents, USA TODAY has reported.
At the time of his arrest in October, authorities found three weapons at Ahmed's home: a Smith & Wesson pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun and a Remington rifle, CNN reported.
