Statesman Stamford Raffles

Born on the 6th of July in the year 1781, Sir Thomas Strmford Bingley Raffles is among the most notable statesmen belonging to the country of United Kingdom. . He is often referred to as the founding Father of Singapore. He was a major player in the conquest of the Indonesian island of Java. The Dutch and the French forces during the Nepolean wars were ruling over that island and it was Stamford Raggles who ensured the independence of the island of Java form these European intruders.  He was an amateur writer who wrote a book on this island of Indonesia that was titled History of Java. Raffles played a pivotal role in the independence of Singapore. In 1818, he went personally to Malaca, and Riau to show British presence there and this presence was favored by the Malyan as is mentioned repeatedly in their historical accounts of the events.
Due to his personal relationships, Raffles was successful in securing permission by the British as well as local government to set up a settlement if he could manage that without disturbing the Dutch of the area. Eventually, a treaty known in the history as the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of London in the year 1824 was signed and Rafflees was allowed to take action and begin his work. In the year 1819 he founded a post at the southern tip of Malayan islands after thoroughly surveying the area and it was on the 6th day of February that he was abloe to lay the foundation of a city that in our modern times is known as Singapore. Within a very short period of time, Singapore was able to start its development and today it stands on the face of the planet as one of the richest states with numerously many resources.
